A few weeks ago Justin and decided to take advantage of a long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary by making a trip to Carmel, CA for an overnight getaway. We stayed at the Carmel Mission Inn and enjoyed walking around the neighboring shops and eateries. We decided to have dinner at a nearby steakhouse. The ambience was perfect as we ate by candlelight and enjoyed each other’s company. That night at dinner was the first time that I actually “craved” any alcohol. Perhaps it was the romantic setting, the vacation vibe or simply watching Justin enjoy his beer that made me want a glass of wine with my dinner. To suffice, I ordered a mocktail mixed with a variety of juices. Although as pretty as it was, it was definitely not the same, however, it was delicious. We spent the evening relaxing in the hotel room, which is honestly one of the best parts of vacations to me. I find it hard to relax at home with household chores, projects or a never-ending to do list waiting to be done. After sleeping in, we enjoyed a nice breakfast and decided to head to the beach. We spent the morning walking on the beach, just talking and laughing. Of course, mostly at me as I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t move out of the way of an incoming wave. As we sat on the beach, we reminisced on our time spent as a couple and how at this time next year we would have an adorable ten month old playing in the sand before us. 🙂

The next hours were spent walking around the shops downtown. As we walked downtown, I noticed tucked away between shops was a children’s boutique named Heaven. It is the most adorable boutique with cutest children’s apparel, shoes, toys and baby accessories. If you are in the area, I recommend stopping by or at least checking out their website. As we walked in we were warmly greeted by staff. It wasn’t here that I expected to find a diaper bag, let alone have Justin convince me to choose one out from this adorable boutique but I did. Staff provided recommendations and offered suggestions on choosing the right diaper bag. “Although it’s for her, you need to pick the one you love. Trust me, find one you like… You will be carrying it for the next two years.” The biggest person to convince me to splurge and get the diaper bag I was falling in love from the store was Justin. I selected a limited edition Petunia Pickle bottom satchel in classic, quilted black. I love it and can’t wait to use it. What are your suggestions for diaper bag neccessities? Not only did he purchase me the diaper bag, but he also included the matching wallet/ planner. Isn’t he the sweetest?!? Although, this didn’t keep him from asking, “Since when did diaper bags become a fashion accessory?” I never knew purchasing a diaper bag would be so exciting and of course this trip’s perfect souvenir.

Time is flying. I am so thankful for weekends like these and am savoring each of these moments with my husband as we eagerly await the arrival of our little princess.
